Motivation Monday Playing It Safe Are You Playing It Safe? In sports, you hear motivational quotes a lot: Just Do It! No pain, no gain You miss 100% of the shots you never take -Wayne Gretsky Are you really doing it? Do you step outside you comfort zone every day? Are you taking risks? As I see it. You could sit on the sidelines with hundreds and thousands of other job seekers OR you could get in the game. I challenge you to make a huge, honking mistake. (And Im not even sure what that would be, are you?) Be Memorable Be known for your best attributes, whatever those may be. At your last job, you had a reputation. People would come to you when they had a problem, or call on you to fix certain things, or they knew they could give you certain projects because you would do them right. This is your work reputation. Now, what do your friends and family call on you for? Are you the one who will donate your truck to help them move? Or perhaps they come to you because you are a great listener. Translate your professional and personal attributes to your job search. Let it be known! Grab a megaphone and be who you are! Dont Second-Guess Yourself As I see it, the only way to fail is to not try and stand out. Take action and be confident. You really have nothing to lose by picking up the phone and asking someone to meet with you. It isnt rude to call someone to ask about the status of your interview. Stop listening to that voice in your head and stop filtering decisions through your own biases and beliefs.   Take risks but let them be calculated! Get out there and have a great week!
